In the hot seat
Posted on - September 4, 2019You’ve hardly slept.
Night-time temperatures barely dropped at all from the heat of the day.
Now it’s a new morning and it’s getting even hotter.
You wish you weren’t compelled to wear a suit and tie.
The train is crammed with people – all sweltering in the uncomfortably tight-packed carriage.
You’re late.
You rush in to work, perspiring and feeling weary before the day’s even started.
The fan on your desk is pathetically inadequate.
And that lovely big window – which usually helps to brighten your day – is now an evil tyrant, beaming intense sunshine onto your face, onto your screen and into your life.
Perfect…
Why?
Why don’t ‘they’ get better air conditioning?
Why are there not blinds or something?
Why don’t any of these windows open?
Why can’t we get more fans?
Why do we have to come in to the office when the weather is like this?
Summer sun through windows can cause discomfort, lower productivity and presents a higher risk of accidents in the work place.
Industry can’t stop just because the summer sun is out.
Heat and glare are common problems when the sun is shining.
Modern offices can compound this by having acres of glass.
But – there is a simple and effective solution.
